The opposite side features a ship with three masts in full sail and flying American flags above the word "MASSACHUSETTS." The flag above the map and at the stern of the ship bear 15 stars. On one side of the jug is a map of "Newburyport Harbour" above a banner reading "SUCCESS TO THE COMMERCE OF NEWBURYPORT" and above are crossed flags, a Liberty cap, spread-winged eagle, and a wreath of laurel. Newburyport Harbor and the Ship "Massachusetts"īeneath the spout is a transfer of a woman in classical dress carrying a shield decorated with Stars and Stripes and a branch of laurel, in front of her is an American eagle, and behind her an obelisk with a portrait of Washington.
